Choosing your Luxor tour from Cairo

Getting from Cairo to Luxor comes down to two things: how you travel and how long you stay. A day tour by plane squeezes the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut's temple and Karnak into one long day. An overnight train turns the journey itself into part of the trip and gives you a rested morning of sightseeing.

Know before you go
DocumentsBring a passport valid six months from your arrival date and a full Egyptian tourist visa; a Sinai-only entry stamp does not allow travel to Luxor.
BookingBook flight tours at least 48 hours ahead and send full names and passport numbers promptly, since operators cannot reserve domestic seats without them.
PaymentsLuxor's temples and tombs are cashless; entry tickets at Karnak, Luxor Temple, Hatshepsut and the Valley of the Kings require a bank card, so carry one even on all-inclusive tours.
CashKeep small Egyptian pound notes for tips, since guides and drivers are customarily tipped at the end of the day and gratuities sit outside tour prices.
TimingTemple sites open at 6 am; Karnak's last entry is 4 pm and Luxor Temple's is 7 pm, so early departures protect your sightseeing hours.
ChildrenBring a birth certificate for infants and children, since domestic Egyptian flights require proof of age.
CamerasLeave the drone at home; Egypt prohibits drones entering the country without official permits, and customs confiscates them on arrival.
DressModest clothing that covers shoulders and knees is the norm at Luxor's sites and in conservative Upper Egypt towns.
RoadsDo not plan to self-drive; the route south passes frequent police checkpoints, and foreign visitors need authorized tourist transport for long-distance road travel.

What a full-day Luxor trip from Cairo includes and where it goes

10 stops12 places

The day starts in the Valley of the Kings, where your guide walks you down into rock-cut tombs whose painted walls have kept their colour for over 3,000 years.

From there the route crosses the Nile and works through the West Bank monuments before lunch, then finishes with Karnak and Luxor Temple on the East Bank.

One booking covers the whole thing: round-trip flights from Cairo, every entrance fee, lunch at a restaurant in Luxor, a private air-conditioned vehicle with door-to-door hotel transfers, a felucca ride on the Nile, and an Egyptologist guide who handles the sites and buffers you from the sellers at the gates. Gratuities stay on you.

How to book a day tour from Cairo to Luxor

01
Pick your date and book early

Choose the date, then check the cancellation terms before you pay. One tour lets you cancel up to 24 hours ahead for a full refund, others ask 3 days. Some flight tours must be booked at least 48 hours in advance so the flights can be secured.

Pro tipAim for a departure before 6:30 am, because West Bank sites get shoulder-to-shoulder with tour groups by 10 am and midday heat climbs toward 42°C
RecommendedLeave a buffer day, since a booking only confirms once flight seats are secured
02
Send your passport details

After booking, the operator contacts you for full names and passport numbers, which they need to reserve the domestic flights. Send this promptly or the flight cannot be booked. Expect the request by WhatsApp and email.

Common mistakeWaiting until the last minute to send passport details, which can cost you the flight seats and the day
ImportantA passport copy is usually needed at least 2 days before the tour
03
Choose your option and language

Most tours run in English by default, with Spanish, German, French, Japanese or Portuguese guides as paid add-ons. On one flight tour you can pick economy or business class and add King Tut's tomb as a separate entry ticket.

Pro tipKing Tutankhamun's tomb is often excluded from base entrance fees, so decide before checkout if you want it
RecommendedBook the balloon option early if you want the sunrise flight, as June to August balloon flights are suspended for heat
04
Wait for the evening message

One day before the trip, the coordinator sends your pickup time, vehicle details and flight tickets by WhatsApp and email. A driver meets you at your Cairo or Giza hotel lobby, usually between 3:30 am and 6 am, and your guide waits at Luxor airport with a name sign.

Pro tipCheck that your contact details are correct when you book, because the WhatsApp message is where the whole day starts
Common mistakeGoing to the airport on your own, when hotel pickup with an air-conditioned vehicle is already included
05
Pack for the long day

Carry your passport, a bank card and small notes for tips, which are not included in the price. Bring water, a hat and solid walking shoes for the tombs and temples, since the day runs 15 hours from hotel pickup to a late-night return.

ImportantEntrance tickets at Karnak and most Luxor sites are now cashless, so bring a bank card rather than Egyptian pounds for gates
RecommendedKeep tips in small denominations, since guides and drivers expect a tip at the end and are not covered by the booking

The 10-hour Luxor trip from Cairo that still counts as one day

Most flight tours from Cairo take fifteen hours on the ground-to-ground clock. This private all-inclusive version trims the day to about ten hours, moving faster between the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut's temple at Deir el-Bahari, the Colossi of Memnon, and Karnak.

It suits travelers with a tight Cairo itinerary who still want a private guide and a sit-down lunch, and it runs in English, Spanish, or German.

  • Every ticket is includedEntrance fees to the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut's temple, and Karnak come in the price, so you carry no cash or cards at the gates.
  • A proven favoriteThis private flight tour holds a 4.4 rating from 271 travelers who have made the same early-morning run.
  • Sealed for your datesThe operator checks flight availability first and confirms your booking only once the seats are secured, so a sold-out flight means a full refund.

Book at least 48 hours ahead so the operator can lock your domestic flight seats before they go.

What to know before booking a day tour to Luxor from Cairo

5
What is included

On the all-inclusive tours, the package covers round-trip flights, all transfers by private air-conditioned vehicle, entrance fees to the main sites, lunch at a Luxor restaurant, and a private guide. Bottled water during the drive is included on some tours.

Extra costs

King Tutankhamun's tomb usually costs a separate ticket, and some tours list drinks at lunch as excluded. Non-English guides carry an additional charge on certain packages. Tips are never included, so treat them as part of the day's budget.

Timing and crowds

Flights departing Cairo before 6:30 am put you on the West Bank early, ahead of the big tour groups that crowd the Valley of the Kings between 9 am and 10 am. Arriving at the 6 am gate opening gives you the premier tombs almost to yourself.

Dress

The ancient temples have no formal dress code, but conservative norms in Upper Egypt call for loose clothing that covers shoulders and knees. That also protects you from the sun, since Luxor runs about 4°C hotter than Cairo in late summer.

Vendors

A private guide absorbs most of the vendor pressure at the monument gates, which is one reason the private format earns its price. If a driver suggests a souvenir detour, say clearly at the start of the day that you want no shopping stops.

02
BookingHow far ahead, and what happens if plans change
2
Booking lead timeCan stop the day

One tour asks you to book at least 48 hours ahead so seats on the morning flight can be secured. All flight tours stay subject to flight availability: if the flight is full, the tour is cancelled and you get a full refund.

Cancellation

Several of the day tours let you cancel up to 24 hours in advance for a full refund. A couple of the flight packages are stricter, allowing free cancellation up to 3 days ahead, so check the policy on the tour card before you book.

03
Before you goPapers, health, what to bring
1
DocumentsCan stop the day

Flights cannot be booked without full names and passport details, so send copies promptly after booking, at latest two days ahead on some tours. On flights with EgyptAir, a power bank travels in your carry-on only, never in checked baggage, and must show its capacity marking.

04
On the dayWhere to be, when, and how you get there
2
Pickup

A driver collects you from your Cairo or Giza hotel, often between 3:30 am and 6 am, and the coordinator sends pickup details and vehicle information by WhatsApp and email the evening before. On arrival in Luxor, a guide or delegate meets you at the airport holding a sign with your name.

Day length

Count on a 15- to 20-hour door-to-door day, even though the flight is only about an hour each way. Ground transfers, check-in and security add hours on both ends, leaving roughly 6 to 8 hours on the ground. Travelers who have done it say the pace is worth it when time is short.

05
During the tourWhat is expected of you
2
Photos

Phone photos are free at the sites, but flash is banned inside tombs and one tour bans cameras entirely, so carry your phone. Tripods reclassify you as professional and need a ministry permit, and drones are prohibited from entering Egypt at all.

Tipping

Guides and drivers expect a tip at the end of the day, and tomb guards who unlock a chamber or light a wall expect a small note. Carry a stack of 5, 10 and 20 Egyptian pound notes so you are never caught short.

The editor's guide to your tour to Luxor from Cairo - timing, formats and the day itself

Luxor is a full day trip from Cairo, but only if you fly early and pick the right months. Get the timing, the format and the packing right, and the tombs are yours before the buses arrive.

When to go, and why your departure hour matters
Luxor · 30.04° N, 31.24° E
If you only remember three things
  1. 1

Book a flight that leaves Cairo before 6:30 am. That single choice puts you at the Valley of the Kings before the crowds and the 42-degree heat.

  2. 2

Go between November and March, when Luxor sits at 24 to 30 degrees instead of 42. In summer, the comfortable outdoor window closes by 10 am.

  3. 3

Arrive at the tomb gate at 6 am. The big cruise buses reach the Valley of the Kings between 9:00 and 10 am, and the best tombs are packed by then.

When to go, and why your departure hour matters

Luxor rewards early risers. The Valley of the Kings, Karnak and Luxor Temple all open at 6 am, and the hours before the tour buses arrive are the ones people remember.

The large cruise groups reach the Valley of the Kings between 9:00 and 10 am, which is why the first hour at the gate feels like a different visit.

The flight matters as much as the month. A departure from Cairo before 6:30 am puts you at the West Bank sites early enough to walk the tombs before the crowds build, and before the midday heat climbs to 42 degrees by lunchtime. Later morning flights eat the cool hours at the airport instead.

Pick your months too. November through March are the mild ones, with Cairo highs of 21 to 27 degrees and Luxor at 24 to 30, and overnight lows between 9 and 16 degrees.

November, February and April are the busiest months, so the early start matters even more. Summer is another story. Luxor reaches 42 to 43 degrees between June and August, and locals say an afternoon tour can end early because of the heat.

In summer, aim to be at the sites before 7 am and indoors by 10 am, saving the Luxor Museum and the Mummification Museum for the middle of the day.

Know the closing times as well. Karnak closes at 5 pm with last entry at 4 pm.

The Valley of the Kings runs 6 am to 5 pm, with last entry at 4 pm in winter and 5 pm in summer. Luxor Temple accepts last entry until 7 pm, which makes it the natural late-day stop.

Compare the months directly: Luxor's daytime highs against Cairo's, and how far the busiest cruise season stretches.

Monthly heat and crowd levels in Luxor and Cairo

November: 5 out of 5 for how busy it gets. This is the busiest month of the year with ideal touring temperatures averaging 30.1°C.

The two lines to compare are Luxor's and Cairo's daytime highs. Luxor runs several degrees hotter through late summer and early autumn, which is why the same itinerary that works in October needs a 6 am start in August.

Day trip, sleeper train, or Nile cruise

Three formats, three different trips. A flight day tour is the one for people on tight schedules. The flight itself takes about an hour in the air, and with check-in and transfers you are looking at three to four hours door-to-door each way, which still leaves a full day of sightseeing.

Families with young children, travelers with mobility challenges, and anyone with a fixed cruise embarkation time usually end up here.

The overnight sleeper train is the slower, classic option. It departs Cairo at 7:45 pm or 9:10 pm and arrives in Luxor at 6:10 am or 7:50 am, running about 10 hours 25 minutes to 10 hours 40 minutes.

Because it travels overnight, it saves a hotel night and hands you the whole day at the sites. It suits travelers who enjoy the rail journey itself and have schedules that can absorb a delay.

A Nile cruise is the immersive one. Short multi-day cruises cannot start in Cairo, because sailing the full river takes around two weeks, so every cruise tour begins with a flight south to board in Luxor or Aswan.

The cruise packages from Cairo take four to five days, and they add stops at Kom Ombo and Edfu that a day trip cannot reach. A three-night cruise from Aswan to Luxor visits the West Bank and East Bank monuments on day three, West Bank first, then the East Bank after lunch.

What each format includes differs too. Day tours generally cover entrance fees to Karnak, Luxor Temple, Hatshepsut Temple, the Colossi of Memnon and the Valley of the Kings, plus lunch. Admission to King Tutankhamun's tomb is often a separate ticket, and tipping is almost always excluded.

Read the first comparison for the shape of each day: how long the trip takes and how early it starts.

Getting there - how the flight day actually runs

The day starts the night before. A tour coordinator sends the pickup details and flight tickets by WhatsApp or email the evening before the excursion, and a driver and guide meet you at your hotel.

The transfer to Cairo International Airport takes 30 to 60 minutes, and the flight to Luxor lasts about an hour, with EgyptAir, Air Cairo and Nile Air all flying direct daily.

On arrival in Luxor, a transfer to the temples takes 20 to 30 minutes. Count on seven to nine hours of total travel time across the round trip.

At the airport, domestic departures need about 1.5 to 2 hours at the terminal. EgyptAir check-in counters close 30 minutes before departure and boarding gates close 30 minutes out; the web and mobile check-in closes 90 minutes before.

Air Cairo closes its counters 30 minutes before departure, online check-in 4 hours before, and gates 20 minutes out. Arrive accordingly.

If you are connecting from an international flight in the same terminal, follow the domestic departure signs to the transfer desk, which leads to a dedicated passport control for transferring passengers.

If you are self-connecting without a through boarding pass, you need an Egyptian visa and must exit through immigration. Your checked bags arrive in Luxor in the International Arrivals area; show your boarding pass or itinerary to the tourist police officer in the domestic baggage hall to pass through.

The document that can stop the trip before it starts

The free Sinai-only entry stamp does not cover Luxor. Anyone arriving through the South Sinai resorts needs a full Egyptian tourist visa for any flight trip to Luxor, and leaving Sinai for Luxor invalidates the stamp.

Baggage rules on EgyptAir domestic routes: one checked bag up to 23 kg, and 8 kg of carry-on in economy.

On Air Cairo, you may carry two power banks under 20,000 mAh, or one between 20,000 and 32,000 mAh; anything over 32,000 mAh is forbidden, as are power banks that do not display their rating clearly.

Could you just drive to Luxor yourself?

The road-trip idea falls apart at the checkpoints. Self-driving between Cairo and Luxor means frequent police and military stops, where foreign visitors can face mandatory delays while waiting for armed escorts. Foreign visitors making long road trips in Egypt need authorized tourist transport, which is what the tour operators provide with their air-conditioned vehicles.

The route itself runs through Middle Egypt governorates such as Minya, Sohag, Asyut and Qena, where independent travel carries real risk. Night driving between cities is strongly advised against in Egypt, whether by private car or bus, so a rental car day trip would also mean driving in the dark at both ends.

Car rental is not recommended here anyway, because of inconsistent signage, congestion and the security convoys required in the Nile Valley.

If you do find yourself in any vehicle on the route, carry your passport in person. Photocopies are generally not accepted at checkpoints, and officers may inspect your entry stamps closely.

Weigh the drive against the flight with the checkpoints and escort waits already in mind when you read the road times.

What to pack, wear, and carry for a day in the desert

Dress for two audiences at once: the sun and local custom. Luxor's temples have no formal legal dress code, but the conservative norms of Upper Egypt apply at rest stops, towns and markets, so loose, breathable trousers or below-knee skirts with tops covering the shoulders work everywhere.

Mornings bring the only real chill, and two sets of figures describe the same season: early mornings from November through February run 8 to 15 degrees, while overnight lows across the milder November-to-March stretch sit between 9 and 16.

The ranges overlap almost entirely, and the second one simply covers a month or two more of milder nights. Either way, add a fleece or light jacket you can remove by mid-morning.

Feet and face come next. Walking surfaces at the temples are sand and uneven stone, so closed-toe shoes with solid soles are the sensible choice. A wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses and SPF 50 sunscreen belong in the bag in every season.

RecommendedThe two-payment rule: Keep a visible stack of 5, 10, and 20 Egyptian pound notes for restrooms, tomb guards, and small tips, and keep a bank card in the same pocket. Most ticket gates in Luxor now refuse cash.

That card matters more than most visitors expect. Karnak, Luxor Temple, Hatshepsut, the Valley of the Kings, the Valley of the Queens, Sphinx Avenue and both Luxor museums all take bank cards only for entry tickets, and travelers reported in late 2025 that Karnak had stopped taking cash entirely.

Add-on tomb tickets at the Valley of the Kings, including Seti I and Tutankhamun, are bought at card-only self-service kiosks, or online in advance to skip the queues.

One exception: the Luxor Pass is card-free and needs cash in US dollars or euros.

For the cash stack itself, a small wad of low-denomination Egyptian pound notes covers a day without a guide: a note or two for a bathroom attendant, a few more for a guard who unlocks a chamber or lights a painted wall for you.

Tips for guides and drivers come at the end of the day, and you set the amount yourself.

What happens if the day goes wrong

Weather and flight schedules both can bend the day, and both have known remedies.

If the flight is delayed or the balloon is grounded

If this happensWhat happens then
Missed connection caused by the airlineEgyptAir rebooks you on the next scheduled service with space at no extra charge, re-routes you on its own flights or another carrier, or refunds you, whichever you choose
Missed connection on Air Cairothe ticket extends to the first flight with space in your paid class, the same re-routing choices apply, and a delay over two hours entitles you to a full refund or a fee-free change
Balloon grounded by fog or winda sunrise boat ride with breakfast, a camel ride, or quad biking instead, with a full day of West and East Bank sightseeing still running

Fog, dust storms and winds above roughly 12 knots suspend the early-morning balloon flights in Luxor, and river authorities halt Nile boat navigation until conditions stabilize.

Changes the shape of the day is all a grounded balloon or a slipping flight does. The tombs and temples do not move, and the operators have been through both situations often enough to have a script for them.

Vendors, touts, and staying comfortable at the sites

Luxor's sites are safe and well policed, with violent crime low and heavy security at Karnak and the Valley of the Kings.

What visitors actually deal with is pressure of the commercial kind: persistent sellers, carriage drivers, and unofficial guides around the main gates. A private guide absorbs a large share of that.

Guides do not stop sellers altogether, but they buffer you from both the solicitation and the tipping pressure, which is one reason pre-booking a tour with a dedicated guide helps people who dislike being approached at popular spots.

Four habits that end the hassle

"La shukran" with a hand on your heart

deters most street peddlers when you keep walking without eye contact

Never "maybe later"

touts wait for that later to arrive

A "no shopping stops" rule with the driver

settles commission-shop detours before you set off

Walk facing oncoming traffic

carriages and taxis cannot follow behind you

On the shopping detours: some private itineraries include visits to perfume and papyrus shops that earn the operator a commission. A clear rule agreed at the start of the day, something as simple as "no shops, no alabaster, only the tombs", settles it.

Early starts help here too, because most sellers and drivers are not yet at the ticket-gate parking areas at 6 am.

If a phrase does not land, "khalas" (enough) or "shorta" (police) will. Sunglasses and a hat do their quiet part by removing eye contact, and hands in pockets keep items from being placed in them and then demanded as paid.

Traveling with children or limited mobility

Families and travelers with limited mobility can make this trip with a few adjustments.

For the flight itself, carry your child's birth certificate as proof of age; passengers with infants or children must present it. Healthy newborns cannot fly within their first seven days, premature infants need special medical clearance, and children must always be linked to an adult passenger.

On the balloon side, select tours set the minimum age at six, and very small children are an exception on some providers.

Adults should know their own limits too: a knee replacement or limited mobility that makes climbing into the basket, standing for the flight, or bracing low at landing impractical makes the balloon a skip.

At the Valley of the Kings, a small trolley bus runs from the ticket box to the entrance, which cuts the walking. The tombs themselves are the harder part.

Most descend by steep wooden ramps and stairs with no alternative route, and Tutankhamun's tomb has sixteen steps to its entrance gate, so it is not step-free.

The 20th Dynasty tombs are the gentler ones, with high, wide chambers that slope gradually. At Hatshepsut's temple, long gradual causeways and ramps reach the lower court, gentle ramps lead to the middle terrace, and two short flights of steps reach the upper sanctuary.

Karnak is the friendliest of the big sites. The main route from the First Pylon through the Great Court to the Hypostyle Hall is largely flat, with paved pathways designed for wheelchair users, and the Hall itself is reachable by wheelchair. Adjust the plan for the tombs, keep the temples, and the day works.

If you have more time - what else to add around Luxor

The single day has a natural closing act. A one-hour felucca sail on the Nile works well as an interlude or an end-of-day wind-down after hours of tombs and temples, and several tour itineraries fold it in exactly that way. Some felucca trips can be combined with an excursion to Banana Island.

The Avenue of Sphinxes is a free walk. You can walk its full length from Karnak to Luxor Temple without buying any ticket, since only the temple complexes at either end need their own separate tickets at their own gates.

That makes it a pleasant way to fill the gap between the two, or to end the day at Luxor Temple, which accepts last entry until 7 pm

The list answers the question of what sits within a short walk of the main circuit, and a few things worth a short drive: the Mortuary Temple of Amenhotep III and the Mortuary Temple of Ay and Horemheb are each about 15 minutes by car, and the Karnak Open Air Museum about 26.

If you can stretch to an overnight or a cruise, November is the month to do it.

It combines daytime highs of about 30 degrees with evenings of 16, almost no rain and calm winds, though it is the busiest cruising month of the year. January and February trade slightly cooler afternoons, around 24 degrees, for the same calm walking conditions.

A traveler's note
Well organised, really enjoyable tour. Guide Ahmed Moussa was fantastic, knowledgeable and professional, with plenty of info on the attractions and culture. He timed things to avoid the crowds. Long day but worth it.

Worth it, if you fly before the sun

A Cairo to Luxor tour is a long day, and the flights decide it. Choose a departure before 6:30 am, travel between November and March, and the tombs are yours in the cool first hour before the cruise buses reach the Valley of the Kings.

Pick your format by the time you have. Tight schedule, fly. Relaxed itinerary and a taste for the rails, take the overnight sleeper. Four or five days free, fly south and sail the Nile between Luxor and Aswan.

Go ifYou can be at the tomb gate at 6 am, ahead of the cruise buses that arrive from 9 am.You fly between November and March, when Luxor sits at 24 to 30 degrees instead of 42.You want the fastest route: about an hour in the air, three to four hours door-to-door.

FAQ about day trips to Luxor from Cairo

Quick answers to what travelers ask most before booking the trip from Cairo to Luxor.

LuxorLuxor2026
The tombs' paint still glows after 3,000 years in the dark rock. Bring a bank card, small notes for tips, and a scarf for the cold morning flight.
Is Luxor a day trip from Cairo?

Yes, by plane. Nonstop flights take about an hour each way, and several organized day tours run the round trip every day, with hotel pickup, flights, guiding, and lunch bundled in.

How long is the flight from Cairo to Luxor?

The flight itself lasts about one hour. Door to door, count on roughly 3.5 to 4.5 hours each way once you add hotel transfers, check-in, and security, so a round-trip day runs 7 to 9 hours of travel.

How early do Cairo to Luxor tours start?

Hotel pickups usually fall between 3:30 am and 6 am to catch morning flights. Departing early gets you to the Valley of the Kings before the big tour groups arrive around 10 am and before midday heat sets in.

What can you realistically see in one day in Luxor?

Four to five major monuments fit a single day: the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, and the Colossi of Memnon on the West Bank, plus Karnak and Luxor Temple on the East Bank. Some intensive itineraries also squeeze in Medinet Habu.

Is a one-day Luxor trip from Cairo too rushed?

It is a long day, with 6 to 8 hours on the ground between late-night returns. People who go consistently say it is worth the early start when time is short, and they see Karnak and the Valley of the Kings without feeling shortchanged.

What do all-inclusive Cairo to Luxor tours include?

The full packages cover round-trip flights, private air-conditioned transfers, entrance fees to sites like Karnak, Hatshepsut Temple, and the Valley of the Kings, lunch, and a private guide. King Tutankhamun's tomb usually costs extra, and tips are on you.

Do I need cash at the Luxor temples?

Bring a bank card. Karnak, Luxor Temple, Hatshepsut Temple, and the Valley of the Kings now take card payments only, and recent visitors confirm cash is no longer accepted at Karnak's ticket booths.

How does a private guide change the day?

A private Egyptologist explains what you are looking at and absorbs most of the pressure from persistent vendors at the sites. Expect to tip the guide and driver at the end of the day, so keep small notes handy.

Who sends me the flight tickets and pickup details?

The tour coordinator does. You get flight e-tickets, pickup times, and vehicle details the evening before by WhatsApp and email, and the driver meets you at your hotel while a guide waits at Luxor airport.

Should I fly or take the overnight sleeper train?

Fly if your schedule is tight; it turns Luxor into a one-day trip. The overnight sleeper takes about 10.5 hours, travels while you sleep, and suits travelers with flexible plans who enjoy rail journeys for their own sake.

Can I drive myself from Cairo to Luxor?

Long-distance road trips between the two cities require authorized tourist transport, with frequent police and military checkpoints along the way. Rental cars are not recommended in Egypt, and night driving between cities is best avoided entirely.

When is the best time of year for a Luxor tour from Cairo?

November through March brings the mildest weather, with Luxor highs of 24 to 30 degrees Celsius. Summer is a different story: Luxor runs about 4 degrees hotter than Cairo and regularly tops 42 degrees between June and August.
